Are there colleges for jewlery making artists where I’m likely to get a job selling my stuff after I go there?
madison k. asked:
I tried getting in to my jewlery class offered at my high school but I didnt get in? Should I talk to my counselor at school and ask him to change it because its already my junior year and I really love jewlery making and I want to get better at it!

there might be one at the local Michael’s craft store, i saw a list of classes there. as for college, they might have a club for it and thats it…..BUT, you could major in business or management so you would know how to open up a shop selling ur jewelry. im 17. Lauren

You may have to prove why you belong there. Telling you’re counselor shows persistence. Keep trying…efventually if the counselor sees that you’re doing good in school, he or she will allow you to take a class such as jewlery making. Ms.Missy

Colleges and universities are in the business of making money, oh, and by the way educating people. For artsy crafty stuff you should look into working for someone in your field. Even free work would be a cheap education. You need to look at the business aspect also. You gotta sell what you make Condor

check this link….I worked sales many, many yrs ago for an independant jeweler but loved and admired watching goldsmith…was surprised at some listed…some are state univ. that i didn’t realize offered this kind of fine art.
good luck…
PS>>>don’t listen to what anyone says about art majors…they have it tougher than you think…hrs of studio time…it’s time consuming and can be stressful!!! but they all say it’s worth it!!! happyanyway
