i actually want something.. 3D ish, i realise there are many kinds that use knots along chords, but those are rather flat… all help would b greatly appreciated!

    Look into macramé, a knotting technique.
    Here are a couple of sites to get you started:

    You can knot anything into the cord. And the pieces look really cool.
    There are also plenty of books on the technique. I learned it back in the 60s! :-) Donna in Rome

    I saw two books at a book store recently that dealt with this. One was about Asian knots, the other was about Celtic knots. They were both about making jewelry. waia2000
