what is the best wire/ string for jewelry making?

Dumb Blonde asked:

whenever I make jewellry, and i’ve made qutie a bit, the string always breaks, or the knots come undone, because the string is too thick, too thin, whatever. And wire never turns out right and always stabs into my skin so i can’t even wear the jewelry. Any and all suggestions are helpful! :)

What I use, and what I’ve noticed many professionals use, is Beadalon jewelry wire. It’s a different kind of wire that is more flexible and smooth, but it won’t kink. Plus, it makes homemade jewelry look store-bought. I absolutely love it!
